JYJ’s Kim Junsu has been appointed as the honorary ambassador of Goyang city in Gyeonggi province, where he spent his childhood.
Goyang appointed Kim Junsu as the honorary ambassador at a ceremony that took on March 31 at Goyang City Hall’s citizen conference room.
Goyang has been nicknamed as the ‘new hallyu’ international tourist city for establishing a K-pop arena concert hall and MICE complex for hallyu tourism in 2013 and having the only five star hotel in Gyeonggi province, the MVL hotel Kintex.
By appointing Kim Junsu, who is well known as a singer and a musical actor, Goyang hopes to claim and promote its brand image as the city of K-pop and new hallyu culture.
Kim Junsu was also born born in Goyang, where he went through elementary, middle and high school, and has special affection for the city.
Mayor Choi Sung of Goyang city said, “As the city with an affective geographical conditions and a wide range of cultural industry, Goyang has limitless potential to grow as an international city and appointing Kim Junsu as the honorary ambassador will further promote Goyang city as the representative hallyu city.”
Kim Junsu also said, “As the honorary ambassador, I will do my best to let people all around the world know about Goyang city.”
